The Art World Lands in Miami. All of It. The Same Week.
Private jet charter to Art Basel Miami Beach lands at Miami-Opa Locka Executive (OPF), about thirty minutes from the convention center, with Miami Executive (TMB) and Fort Lauderdale Executive (FXE) as the overflow. Peak is a pilot-founded charter broker in Bozeman, Montana that arranges the flight; an ARGUS TripCheq or Wyvern vetted operator flies it. In fair week the constraint is overnight parking, which sells out before seats do, so Peak books it with the aircraft. Teterboro is 2 h 45.

Three Public Days. A Week of Fairs.
December 4–6 are the published fair days, and the invitation previews land just before them. Around the main fair the satellites make it a full week: NADA Miami runs December 1–5 at Ice Palace Studios, and Untitled Art pitches its tent on the sand at 12th Street. Collectors treat the whole stretch as one trip.
That density is the argument for chartering. The fair days are fixed; everything around them — the dinner that materializes, the collection visit up the coast, the extra day you suddenly need — is not. A charter rebuilds itself around the week you actually end up having. Pilot-founded, simply exceptional.
Art Week at a Glance
Six days of fairs; the two that matter most are closed to the public.
Private days
First Choice and Preview on the Wednesday, Vernissage on the Thursday evening, all by invitation. This is the window the collectors fly in for, and the tightest two nights for aircraft parking at Opa-locka.
Public days
The fair opens to ticket holders at 11 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m. each day. Design Miami runs beside it through the Sunday. Arrivals ease after Thursday; departures build toward Sunday evening.
The departure surge
Most of the fair leaves within a few hours of the Sunday close. Depart Monday morning, or hold a Sunday evening slot booked with the aircraft rather than the week of.
The Densest Aviation Week on the Florida Calendar
Early December is when Florida becomes the busiest private-aviation departure state in the country, at roughly 15 percent of national departures, and fair week is the reason. The constraint is not the arrival. It is keeping the aircraft on the ground once you have landed. Overnight parking at the Miami-area airports is committed weeks before the fair opens, and an aircraft that cannot park gets repositioned out after drop-off.
Book four to eight weeks out and none of that is your problem. We hold the parking with the aircraft, or plan the reposition so you never notice it. You are reading this in time. Use that.
Where to Stay for Art Basel
The gravity of the week is Collins Avenue. Faena and the Miami Beach EDITION are its twin clubhouses — minutes from the convention center and the first to book out. The Setai and 1 Hotel South Beach put you on the same sand with more air, and the Four Seasons at The Surf Club buys distance from the crowds at the price of a car ride.
The honest constraint: this is the week Miami Beach room rates go vertical, and the top-tier keys are usually gone by late spring. Inventory is thinner this year with the W South Beach closed for its Waldorf Astoria conversion; the Delano, back after a $100 million renovation, helps but not enough. If the beach is sold out, Brickell and Bal Harbour are twenty to thirty minutes by car — and we will land you closer to whichever you choose.
Where to Eat During Art Week
Miami’s 2026 Michelin list runs fifteen stars deep, and Basel week is when all of them book solid. L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon holds Florida’s only two stars, Mutra took its first this year, and Boia De stays one of the hardest small tables in the city. Reservations release on the standard 30-day windows — set the reminder for early November, not fair week.
The other end of the market is the point of Miami. Stone crab season opens in mid-October, so Basel week catches Joe’s Stone Crab in full swing, walk-in line and all. La Camaronera fries the fish sandwich locals argue about, and Garcia’s on the river does the year-round fish-house lunch between fairs. None of them care who you are. That is the charm.
The Fair Closes at Six. Miami Does Not.
Basel evenings are the other half of the week — museum openings, brand dinners, collection parties that begin after the convention center empties. Nobody flies home at seven.
That is the point of chartering. Your aircraft departs when you do. Close out Sunday night properly and fly home Monday morning, or make a Monday meeting in New York because you left at midnight. Both work. Your call.
One note from people who plan this for a living: late-night departures in fair week are easiest to keep when the airport is chosen for them. Tell us your honest intentions and we will match the field to the hour.
Fair tickets and preview access are sold separately through artbasel.com.
Book your private jet todayTHE AIRPORTS PEAK USES
Miami in fair week rewards people who know which airport to use. For the convention center, your options:
Opa-locka Executive (OPF): The default for Miami Beach — about 30 minutes to the convention center, five FBOs, customs 0900–2400. The main 8,002-foot runway closes overnight unless opened on an hour’s notice. In fair week, overnight parking here is the first thing to sell out.
Miami International (MIA): Closest in miles, with a single FBO and a wingspan cap on its aircraft parking that rules out most large-cabin jets. Three hours’ notice required. The right answer only for specific trips.
Miami Executive (TMB): South of the city with no overnight closure — the calm choice for Coral Gables stays or a Keys leg after the fair.
Fort Lauderdale Executive (FXE): The overflow answer. Banyan alone holds 200 aircraft, about 45 minutes north when the Miami fields fill.
Fort Lauderdale International (FLL): Big-airport infrastructure with dedicated general aviation customs, and one of the busiest business aviation airports in the country.
With access to 5,000+ airports nationwide and worldwide, we’ll position you wherever the rest of your trip makes sense.

Which Aircraft Fits a Charter to Art Basel?
Opa-locka takes anything that flies. The question is who is coming, from where, and whether the aircraft stays the week or repositions.
Best for
Teterboro, Washington, Atlanta, Nassau, Key West, Palm Beach.
Why
Up to seven seats and two hours or less to most East Coast origins. The cabin that fits the parking that is left when the heavy jets have taken the rest.
Best for
Chicago, Dallas, Bozeman, a gallery team with crates in the hold.
Why
Non-stop from the Midwest and the Rockies with full seats and the baggage a buying trip generates. Fits at OPF and TMB without the wingspan question that rules at MIA.
Best for
Van Nuys, San Francisco, Europe and South America.
Why
The transcontinental and transatlantic class. Park it at OPF or FXE; Miami International caps wingspan on its aircraft parking and rules most of these out.
Tell us who is flying and from where, and we price the class against your fair-week dates.
The Northeast is inside three hours of Opa-locka, Chicago and Dallas about the same, and the West Coast around five. Times below are wheels-up to wheels-down, the figures we plan with on a fair-week quote.
Planning estimates for a midsize cabin in still air. Your actual block time depends on the aircraft, the load and the day; we confirm it on the quote.
Art Basel Charter Questions, Answered
Which airport is closest to Art Basel Miami Beach?
Miami International is closest in miles, but its general aviation parking carries a wingspan cap that rules out most large-cabin aircraft. Opa-locka Executive (OPF), about 30 minutes from the Miami Beach Convention Center, is the practical default, with Miami Executive (TMB), Fort Lauderdale Executive (FXE) and Fort Lauderdale International (FLL) as the alternates we quote against it.
When is Art Basel Miami Beach 2026?
December 4–6, 2026, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Design Miami runs December 1–6 beside it, NADA Miami December 1–5, and Miami Art Week fills the surrounding days — most clients fly in early in the week and leave Sunday or Monday.
How far in advance should I book a private jet charter for Art Basel?
Four to eight weeks ahead. Aircraft availability tightens through November, and overnight parking at the Miami-area airports is typically committed well before the fair opens. Booking early means your aircraft stays where you land; booking late usually means planning around a reposition.
Can you arrange private jet charters for groups?
Yes. From light jets for two or three passengers to large-cabin aircraft for a full group, we match the aircraft to the passenger count and the trip. Every operator we use is vetted.
Can I fly out late after the evening events?
Usually, yes. Late departures during fair week are routine when the airport is chosen for them — some fields restrict overnight movements, so tell us your realistic departure window and we will match the field to the hour rather than promising a slot the airport will not give.
Does Peak charge membership fees?
No. Peak is a pilot-founded charter broker with no membership fees and all-inclusive pricing. You pay for the flight, not the privilege of asking about one.
Are there empty legs to Miami during Art Basel?
Sometimes, and more often on the way out than the way in. Aircraft repositioning after a one-way drop in fair week can surface empty legs from South Florida to the Northeast and Texas in the days after the fair closes. They appear on short notice and the dates are fixed, so they suit a flexible return rather than an arrival timed to a preview. Our current list is on the empty legs page, and we flag anything that fits your dates when you ask.
