Aircraft Questions, Answered
Title
Start with three numbers: passengers, distance, and the runway at each end. A 90-minute hop for four suits a turboprop or light jet; eight skiers with gear point to a super-mid; a nonstop coast-to-coast or overseas leg calls for a heavy jet. Tell us the trip and we quote two or three options side by side, so you pick the balance of cabin and cost.
How many passengers does each class seat?
Turboprops carry 4 to 9 passengers, light jets 4 to 8, mid-size jets 6 to 10, super-mids 8 to 12, and heavy jets 10 to 19. Boeing Business Jets seat 19 to 50 in VIP configuration. Certified seats are not the same as comfortable seats on a long leg, so we plan around people plus baggage, not the placard number.
How much does a private jet charter cost per hour?
As a rough guide from recent trips: turboprops run about $2,500 to $4,000 per flight hour, light jets $4,500 to $6,500, mid-size $6,000 to $8,000, super-mids $7,500 to $9,500, and heavy jets $10,000 and up. Every Peak quote is one all-inclusive number for your trip. No membership fees, ever.
Can smaller aircraft use airports that jets cannot?
Yes. Turboprops and light jets are the reason Peak can put you into more than 5,000 airports across the US and Canada. Short mountain strips and small-town fields that a heavy jet has to overfly are routine work for a King Air or a Phenom, which often lands you thirty minutes from the door instead of two hours.
When should I size up to a larger cabin?
Size up when a leg stretches past three hours, when the group grows past six with real baggage, or when winter weather argues for extra range in reserve. Larger cabins also cruise higher, above most of the weather, and hold a lower cabin altitude, which is why you step off a long leg feeling human.
Does Peak own these aircraft?
No. Peak is a pilot-founded charter broker in Bozeman, Montana. We arrange your flight with operators vetted through ARGUS TripCheq and Wyvern data, with insurance verified before every trip, and we match the aircraft to the mission rather than to a fleet schedule. We arrange — you fly.
