US Open at Pebble Beach

The 127th US Open Returns to Pebble Beach

Private jet charter to the US Open at Pebble Beach lands at Monterey Regional (MRY), fifteen minutes from the first tee, with Salinas (SNS) twenty minutes inland as the parking relief and San José (SJC) for any international or transcontinental arrival. Peak is a pilot-founded charter broker in Bozeman, Montana that arranges the flight; an ARGUS TripCheq or Wyvern vetted operator flies it. Transient parking at Monterey needs prior permission and fills for championship week, so Peak books it with the aircraft. San Francisco is 0 h 35, Van Nuys an hour.

Dates
14–20 June 2027; practice rounds Monday to Wednesday, championship rounds Thursday 17 to Sunday 20 June
Venue
Pebble Beach Golf Links, Pebble Beach, California
Primary airport
Monterey Regional (MRY)
Alternates
Salinas Municipal (SNS), San José Mineta (SJC); Watsonville (WVI) for light aircraft only
Know before you go
Prior permission is required for transient parking at Monterey and the aircraft usually repositions to Salinas; Monterey has no customs staff, so an international arrival clears at San José first

Seven Days, Not Four

The competition is Thursday to Sunday, but the ticket that matters is a seven-day one. Practice days at a US Open are when the course is walkable and the players are reachable, and Pebble Beach sells its championship access across the full 14 to 20 June span rather than by the round. If you are flying in for a single day, Friday and Saturday are the ones people fight over.

Hospitality is sold as three tiers and all three include lodging or grounds access rather than a bare seat. Lodge Premier pairs a room at The Lodge with all seven days and preferred dining. The 1895 Club runs Wednesday to Sunday in a climate-controlled space along the 18th fairway. The VIP Championship Experience adds tee times on the other resort courses. Preferred dining reservations open in early 2027, which is the date to diarise.

June is not the only week Pebble Beach fills. Monterey Car Week does the same thing every August, and our Monterey and Carmel page covers the peninsula year round.

Championship Week at a Glance

Seven days on the Monterey Peninsula; the last four are the ones the ramp is allocated for.

Monday 14 – Wednesday 16 June

Practice rounds

Players practise Monday to Wednesday and the grounds open to ticket holders each day. These are the easy arrival days at Monterey Regional; the transient ramp still has room and the 17-Mile Drive still moves.

Thursday 17 – Friday 18 June

Rounds one and two

Tee times run from early morning. Thursday is the heaviest arrival day of the week at Monterey and Salinas, and the day the FBO ramps reach their allocation. Arrive Wednesday evening if the dates allow.

Saturday 19 – Sunday 20 June

The weekend

The leaders tee off mid-afternoon and the trophy is presented early Sunday evening on the 18th green. The peninsula empties onto two roads at once. Depart Monday, or hold a Sunday evening slot booked with the aircraft.

Where to Stay Near Pebble Beach

Three properties sit inside the 17-Mile Drive gate, which during championship week is the difference between a walk and a queue. The Lodge at Pebble Beach finished a full guestroom refresh in 2025 and sits above the 18th green. The Inn at Spanish Bay is the larger of the two at 269 rooms. Casa Palmero is the quiet one, twenty-four rooms, reintroduced after a full refurbishment in 2024.

The booking mechanics are worth knowing before you choose. The Lodge and The Inn open eighteen months ahead; Casa Palmero opens twelve, so its June 2027 rooms came available later and go faster. Outside the gate, L’Auberge Carmel is twenty rooms in the village, La Playa Hotel is a restored 1905 property a short walk from Carmel Beach, and Bernardus Lodge & Spa sits twelve miles inland up Carmel Valley Road with house cars for guests.

Where to Eat on the Monterey Peninsula

Carmel eats better than a village of four thousand has any right to. Chez Noir holds a Michelin star and a James Beard Best New Restaurant nomination across twelve tables on Fifth Avenue, which means weeks out normally and months out for championship week. It is closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Yafa carries a Bib Gourmand a block away on Junipero and takes bookings by telephone only. Aubergine, the peninsula’s two-star room, sits inside L’Auberge Carmel.

The better trick is to eat where the peninsula actually eats. Maligne took a Bib Gourmand from an address in Seaside that no visitor would guess, and asks a deposit per head. Monterey’s Fish House on Del Monte Avenue takes reservations by telephone and nothing else, and the queue behind the people who called is half an hour. Sea Harvest on Foam Street is a counter and a fish market. Ad Astra on Alvarado sells out of bread by lunchtime.

Which Airport Should a Private Jet Use for the US Open at Pebble Beach?

Monterey Regional is fifteen minutes from the resort and seven miles from Carmel-by-the-Sea, which is as close as a jet gets to a major championship anywhere in American golf. The main runway is 7,175 feet, the field is Class C with the tower staffed 0600 to 2100, and there is no curfew — the airport has said plainly that it has no authority to impose one, and runs a voluntary Fly Quiet programme instead. Noise abatement procedures apply between 2300 and 0700.

The constraint is not hours, it is space. Monterey Regional carries a standing restriction requiring prior permission for transient parking by large and turbine multi-engine aircraft, year-round, not just in event weeks. There is no FAA slot programme here and no reservation lottery — golf is not covered by the standing stadium flight restriction either. What there is instead is a finite apron and a telephone number, and the answer depends on when you call. Note also that the replacement terminal opens in summer 2027, so construction runs through championship week.

Arriving from Outside the Country

One more thing worth knowing if you are arriving from outside the country. Monterey Regional holds Port of Entry designation but has no Customs and Border Protection staffing, so international arrivals clear somewhere else first. San Jose is the practical choice — twin 11,000-foot runways, customs handled on arrival, an hour to ninety minutes by road. San Jose does have a legally enforced curfew with fines, which Monterey does not.

THE AIRPORTS PEAK USES

MRY — Monterey Regional is the primary. 7,175 ft by 150 ft main runway, Class C with the tower staffed 0600 to 2100, no curfew, noise abatement 2300 to 0700. Prior permission is required for transient parking by large and turbine multi-engine aircraft. It holds Port of Entry designation but has no CBP staffing. Fifteen minutes to Pebble Beach, seven miles to Carmel-by-the-Sea. FBOs are Monterey Jet Center and Del Monte Aviation.

SNS — Salinas Municipal runs 6,004 ft by 150 ft, towered Class D, with an ILS to runway 31 and no customs. The FBO is gateOne. This is the parking-relief field: drop at Monterey, reposition to Salinas, bring the aircraft back for the departure.

SJC — San Jose Mineta has twin 11,000 ft runways and handles customs on arrival, which makes it the entry point for anything international or transcontinental. One to one and a half hours by road. Note it enforces a curfew with a fine per occurrence, which Monterey does not. FBOs are Atlantic Aviation, open around the clock with hangar space to Global and G650 size, and Signature.

WVI — Watsonville Municipal is 4,502 ft with a 589 ft displaced threshold, non-towered, and departures are prohibited on runway 27. Light jets and turboprops only, and marginal in a championship week.

Which Aircraft Fits a Charter to the US Open at Pebble Beach?

Monterey’s 7,175-foot runway takes most business jets. Salinas suits light and midsize cabins. For anything international or ultra-long-range, San José is the field and the aircraft comes to Monterey afterwards.

Light jet · Phenom 300, CJ3+

Best for

San Francisco, Van Nuys, Las Vegas, Scottsdale.

Why

An hour or less from California and Arizona. The class that fits Salinas when Monterey’s transient ramp is allocated, and the easiest to keep on the peninsula for the week.

Super-midsize · Challenger 350, G280

Best for

Denver, Seattle, Bozeman, Dallas, a foursome and its clubs.

Why

Two to three hours non-stop from the Rockies and Texas with a stand-up cabin and the hold for golf bags. Fits Monterey; we run the performance check against the June marine layer and your dates.

Heavy · Falcon 2000LXS, G500, Global

Best for

Teterboro, Chicago, international arrivals.

Why

Five hours from the East Coast. Monterey takes the aircraft but clears no customs, so an international arrival lands at San José first. Note San José enforces a night curfew that Monterey does not.

US Open Charter Questions, Answered

The 127th US Open runs from 14 to 20 June 2027, with the competition rounds played Thursday 17 through Sunday 20 June. Pebble Beach is a USGA anchor site, but the next US Open here after 2027 is not until 2032.

Monterey Regional, MRY, about fifteen minutes from the resort and seven miles from Carmel-by-the-Sea. Its main runway is 7,175 feet and the airport has no curfew, so early departures and late arrivals are both workable.

Monterey Regional holds Port of Entry designation but has no Customs and Border Protection staffing on site, so an international flight has to clear customs at another port of entry first. San Jose is the usual choice, with customs handled on arrival and an hour to ninety minutes by road.

There is no FAA slot programme and no reservation lottery for Monterey, and golf is not covered by the standing stadium flight restriction. What does apply is a year-round requirement for prior permission to park large and turbine multi-engine aircraft at Monterey Regional. That permission is the thing to secure early, not a slot.

The resort opened its June 2027 rooms some time ago. The Lodge and The Inn at Spanish Bay take bookings eighteen months out and Casa Palmero twelve, so the lodging decision is live now and the aircraft follows it. Preferred dining reservations for package holders open in early 2027.

Yes, and it is a common pattern here. Monterey Regional has no curfew, so a morning arrival and an evening departure both work. Parking permission is the limiting factor rather than the airport’s hours, which is why the day trip is often the easier booking during a championship week.

Yes, and mostly short ones. Monterey cannot park every aircraft that arrives for the championship, so operators drop and reposition to Salinas, San José or the Bay Area and return for the pickup. Those repositioning legs surface as empty legs through the week, usually a day or two ahead, and suit a Bay Area party with flexible timing rather than an East Coast arrival timed to a tee time. Our current list is on the empty legs page, and we flag anything that fits your dates when you ask.

Jeff and I have booked all our private flights to and from Montana with Peak Aviation Solutions. He is wonderful to work with and accommodates our plans even when we have had to change them on short notice. Everything feels very professional and safe. Planes and pilots are have been great. We have looked at other booking possibilities and they have been more expensive and not as willing to work around our schedules. Thank you, for flying us safely. We love working with someone who is very capable and local!
