Where to Stay in Lake Tahoe
Which shore you sleep on decides most of the trip. Edgewood Tahoe Resort sits on the South Shore at Stateline, on the water with the golf course beside it and the Nevada state line a few steps away. The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe is mid-mountain at Northstar on the North Shore, ski-in in winter and the coolest of the three in August. Everline Resort and Spa is at the base of Palisades Tahoe in Olympic Valley, and is the one to book when the trip is built around the mountain.
Two things to know before you book. The lake is bigger than it looks: driving between the North and South shores runs about an hour in good conditions and considerably longer in a storm, so pick a shore and stay on it. And the Hyatt Regency at Incline Village is running a redevelopment through late 2027 that has closed its beach and several of its restaurants, which matters if Incline is where you were planning to be.
