Where to Stay Near Pebble Beach
Three properties sit inside the 17-Mile Drive gate, which during championship week is the difference between a walk and a queue. The Lodge at Pebble Beach finished a full guestroom refresh in 2025 and sits above the 18th green. The Inn at Spanish Bay is the larger of the two at 269 rooms. Flying into the Monterey Peninsula
Monterey Regional is fifteen minutes from the resort and seven miles from Carmel-by-the-Sea, which is as close as a jet gets to a major championship anywhere in American golf. The main runway is 7,175 feet, the field is Class C with the tower staffed 0600 to 2100, and there is no curfew — the airport has said plainly that it has no authority to impose one, and runs a voluntary Fly Quiet programme instead. Noise abatement procedures apply between 2300 and 0700.
The constraint is not hours, it is space. Monterey Regional carries a standing restriction requiring prior permission for transient parking by large and turbine multi-engine aircraft, year-round, not just in event weeks. There is no FAA slot programme here and no reservation lottery — golf is not covered by the standing stadium flight restriction either. What there is instead is a finite apron and a telephone number, and the answer depends on when you call. Note also that the replacement terminal opens in summer 2027, so construction runs through championship week.
Arriving from Outside the Country
One more thing worth knowing if you are arriving from outside the country. Monterey Regional holds Port of Entry designation but has no Customs and Border Protection staffing, so international arrivals clear somewhere else first. San Jose is the practical choice — twin 11,000-foot runways, customs handled on arrival, an hour to ninety minutes by road. San Jose does have a legally enforced curfew with a $2,500 penalty, which Monterey does not.

MRY — Monterey Regional is the primary. 7,175 ft by 150 ft main runway, Class C with the tower staffed 0600 to 2100, no curfew, noise abatement 2300 to 0700. Prior permission is required for transient parking by large and turbine multi-engine aircraft. It holds Port of Entry designation but has no CBP staffing. Fifteen minutes to Pebble Beach, seven miles to Carmel-by-the-Sea. FBOs are Monterey Jet Center and Del Monte Aviation.
SNS — Salinas Municipal runs 6,004 ft by 150 ft, towered Class D, with an ILS to runway 31 and no customs. The FBO is gateOne. This is the parking-relief field: drop at Monterey, reposition to Salinas, bring the aircraft back for the departure.
SJC — San Jose Mineta has twin 11,000 ft runways and handles customs on arrival, which makes it the entry point for anything international or transcontinental. One to one and a half hours by road. Note it enforces a curfew with a $2,500 penalty per occurrence, which Monterey does not. FBOs are Atlantic Aviation, open around the clock with hangar space to Global and G650 size, and Signature.
WVI — Watsonville Municipal is 4,502 ft with a 589 ft displaced threshold, non-towered, and departures are prohibited on runway 27. Light jets and turboprops only, and marginal in a championship week.
