A private jet to Turks and Caicos is a favorite for East Coast clients because the trip feels far away and isn’t. From Miami it’s about an hour and a half. The planning, though, runs longer than the flight. Unlike Mexico, this one rarely works on a same-day call, and that catches first-timers.
Quick answer: A private jet to Turks and Caicos lands at Providenciales International (MBPV), the country’s main port of entry, where three private terminals each have immigration and customs on site. Every passenger needs a valid passport. Miami is about 502 nautical miles away, New York about 1,149. Give your broker several days’ notice so handling and clearance are set.
Where do private jets land in Turks and Caicos?
Providenciales is the main port of entry for a private jet to Turks and Caicos, and the closest airport to Grace Bay. It’s the island everyone calls Provo. It’s home to Grace Bay and most of the resorts and villas.
Turks and Caicos has eight airports, but your first landing has to be at a port of entry: Providenciales, South Caicos or Grand Turk (Visit Turks and Caicos Islands). For private flights, Provo is the clear choice. It has three FBOs, each with its own terminal, ramp, and immigration and customs officers (Visit TCI, private aircraft).
| Airport | ICAO code | Port of entry | Private jet use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Providenciales International | MBPV / MBPV | Yes | Main private jet airport, three FBOs |
| South Caicos | MBSC | Yes | Occasional, for South Caicos stays |
| Grand Turk JAGS McCartney | MBGT | Yes | Limited private services |
| North and Middle Caicos | MBNC, MBMC | No | Small aircraft only, after clearing in |
Staying on a smaller cay? Clear in at Provo first, then take a short connecting flight or a boat. We arrange both.
How long is the flight to Turks and Caicos?
Great-circle distances to Providenciales, calculated by Peak Aviation Solutions:
| From | Distance | Airplane that fits |
|---|---|---|
| Miami | 502 nm | Light jet |
| Atlanta | 961 nm | Light or midsize jet |
| New York (Teterboro) | 1,149 nm | Midsize jet |
| Boston | 1,238 nm | Midsize or super-mid |
| Chicago | 1,446 nm | Super-mid |
| Bozeman | 2,380 nm | Heavy jet, or a fuel stop |
Every one of those routes is over open water for the last stretch. We confirm the airplane carries the life rafts and survival gear the route requires before it’s booked.
From the Northeast, a midsize jet like the Citation XLS is the sweet spot for most families. From the Midwest or West, a super-mid saves the fuel stop.
Why Turks and Caicos needs more lead time
Here’s the part people underestimate:
"But when we’re going international, usually to some of these other places, it requires a little bit more time."

Mexico and Canada can sometimes go same day. Turks and Caicos is one of those other places. Before wheels up, several things have to line up:
- Handling at the FBO. The private terminal has to accept your arrival time and parking.
- Arrival clearance. The operator files the advance arrival information with local immigration and customs.
- U.S. departure manifest. The operator files your passenger manifest with CBP through eAPIS at least an hour before takeoff.
- Holiday ramp space. Christmas and spring break fill the Provo ramps. Late requests can mean parking the airplane on another island or flying it home empty.
Our rule of thumb: give us several days for a normal week, and a few weeks for the holidays. It isn’t that the flight is hard. It’s that every piece has to be confirmed by someone in another country.
Customs at Providenciales: what it’s like
This is one of the nicest arrivals in the Caribbean. You taxi to the FBO, walk into a small terminal, and immigration and customs clear you right there. The crew handles the general declaration. Your car is usually waiting outside.
What to have ready:
- A valid passport book for every passenger. Visit Turks and Caicos says visitors need a passport and proof of onward travel. On a private jet, your return itinerary covers that.
- No visa for U.S., Canadian, U.K. or E.U. residents for a normal visit, per the same source.
- Arrival forms your crew or handler provides.
On the way home, you clear U.S. customs at your first U.S. landing. Without a CBP overflight exemption, that means a designated airport near where the flight crosses the coast, usually in South Florida. With one, the airplane can continue to any U.S. airport that offers customs, as long as it’s open when you land.
Our passport and customs guide covers the return in more detail.
Ground transport on Provo
Grace Bay is a short drive from the airport. We arrange the car before you land: a sedan or SUV for most families, or a Sprinter van for a bigger group with luggage.
Some clients like having their own wheels on the island for the week. That works too: we’ll have a self-drive car delivered to the FBO ahead of time. Note that Turks and Caicos drives on the left.
Turks and Caicos vs the Bahamas by private jet
Clients often ask us to compare the two. Both are short hops from Florida and both are easy by private jet. The Bahamas is closer and has dozens of islands with airstrips, which suits island-hopping. Turks and Caicos is one main arrival point, Provo, and a quieter, more contained trip.
For the Bahamas side, see our Bahamas private jet charter page.
When to go, and what to watch
High season runs from mid-December through April. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, and late summer is the most active stretch. We fly through it with a weather backup for every trip, but we’re honest about the risk when you book.
Across the Caribbean, we’ve flown clients from Palm Beach to Aruba in a Citation X, from San Juan to Fort Lauderdale in a Challenger 605, and between Louisiana and San Juan in Learjet 60s (Peak quote history). The pattern is the same everywhere: clearance and handling first, then the airplane.

Questions about a private jet to Turks and Caicos
What airport do private jets use in Turks and Caicos?
A private jet to Turks and Caicos almost always uses Providenciales International Airport (MBPV), the main port of entry and the airport closest to Grace Bay. It has three FBOs, each with its own terminal and on-site immigration and customs officers. South Caicos and Grand Turk are also ports of entry but see far fewer private jets.
How long is a private jet flight to Turks and Caicos?
Providenciales is about 502 nautical miles from Miami, 961 from Atlanta, 1,149 from New York and 1,238 from Boston. That is roughly an hour and a half from Miami and about three hours from New York. Flights from Chicago and the West usually use a super-midsize or heavy jet to fly nonstop.
Do you need a passport to fly private to Turks and Caicos?
Yes. Every passenger needs a valid passport book, and visitors must show proof of onward travel, which a private jet’s return itinerary covers. U.S., Canadian, U.K. and E.U. residents do not need a visa for a normal visit. Passengers clear immigration and customs at the private terminal on arrival.
Can you fly private to Turks and Caicos last minute?
It is harder than Mexico. FBO handling, parking, arrival clearance and the U.S. manifest all have to be confirmed first, and holiday ramp space fills early. Peak Aviation Solutions recommends several days’ notice for a normal week and a few weeks for Christmas or spring break.
How do you get to the smaller islands in Turks and Caicos by private jet?
Clear immigration and customs at Providenciales first, since the smaller islands are not ports of entry. From Provo, a short connecting flight in a small aircraft or a boat transfer reaches North Caicos, Middle Caicos and the private cays. A broker can arrange both to meet the jet’s arrival.
The short version
On a private jet to Turks and Caicos, fly into Providenciales, clear customs at the FBO, and be at Grace Bay within minutes. Bring passports for everyone. Give us enough notice to line up handling and clearance, especially over the holidays.
Thinking about Turks and Caicos?
Tell us the dates, the group and where you’re staying. We’ll book the FBO, confirm clearance, check the airplane’s overwater gear, and have the car outside the terminal. On the call, I’ll tell you how early the holiday ramp space at Provo really goes.
Picture your first afternoon: bags dropped, feet in the sand at Grace Bay, the same day you left the snow.
